Foggy Sapa

This weekend we visited Sapa in the north of Vietnam near the Chinese border. The area is supposed to have lovely scenery and to be a good escape from the hot Hanoi in June. Unfortunately we went there in February when it was impossible to see further than 10 meters in the fog/rain. This did not slow us down as we've spent time in England which is always like that. Best part of the trip were the minority groups based around Sapa and the 19-hour-ride back. Watch the video of our time with different Hmong people. Watch Roope bargain with a little girl and see Sonja being abused by an old lady.

Hmong people are 4 feet tall.

We were a little nervous with this water buffalo running at us.

Next ski jumping world champion may just be from Vietnam.

Waterfall near Cat Cat village of the Hmong minority.

This is the furthest we saw all weekend.

Roope has never been this ready to trek in the cold rain.

Hitting the muddy slopes.

I would like to donate a shower, soap and a clothes washing machine to the Hmongs.

Tay minority lady sold Sonja a belt.

The best Hmong person we encountered. Watch the video for more.

Brake and fly is the motto of this sleeper bus. It took us 19 hours to go 300km thanks to a truck breaking down in the middle of the two lanes of the only bridge to take us over a river. Cars were able to pass by but not busses or trucks. Slightly frustrating...
